Fair Trade Virgin Coconut Oil
In 2008, ethical beauty retailer The Body Shop has expanded its unique Community Trade programme to include coconut growers from Samoa.
As well as receiving a fair wage, the producers and their families can therefore improve their selfesteem and their involvement in the community, plus build a livelihood that supports their communities.
WIBDI recognise the beauty of organics and fair trade is that value is added at the farm gate, giving the farmer maximum benefits. It thanks The Body Shop for building their business by empowering vulnerable people around the world, and contributing to alleviating and eradicating poverty in such as sustainable way.
Throughout the years, The Body Shop has proved its reputation as a company with a strong moral grounding and provided ongoing support to WIBDI’s coconut oil producers.
In 2010, 22.7 tons of organic coconut oil was exported to The Body Shop.
