Fine mat weavers in Sataua village in Savai'i were visited by WIBI fieldworkers this week.
Fieldworkers Tilomai Sikuka and Ola Ioane and fine mat advisor Litia Huspeth spent time with the weaving group looking at their fine mats and also giving payments owed to the weavers.
Tilomai says some of the weavers had already been paid in advance for their work as well.
Litia also worked with the weavers to improve their stripping of their pandanus and the straight edging on their mats, which affects the value of their mats.
The fieldworkers also spent time visiting vanilla farmers and coconut oil producers.
