introduction

WIBDI’s projects are aimed at alleviating poverty amongst villagers by encouraging them to generate income and participate in creating a sustainable village economy. Through technology, tradition and trade, WIBDI aims to create the economies in the rural villages of Samoa.
We attempt to help women and their families generate cash from resources available to them in the village: pandanus leaves, coconuts, native flowers etc.
All projects involve teaching the skills to produce the product as well as concepts of business planning, development and management including time management, costing, quality control, marketing and record keeping. Most producers belong to the Micro-Finance plan where they learn to save and, eventually, borrow and repay.
