Rural women in eight villages and three islands are involved in the weaving of fine mats, and this year a further six villages will be introduced to the scheme. The fine mat project was started as a way of helping the poorest rural women earn a small income.

Women and Business provide training, ensure the weaving quality, provide support and deliver the women's weekly wage. We also market the mats, which will be available to purchase from here shortly.
